Prof. Dr. Türker ÖZDOĞAN

1944 İzmit doğumlu. İstanbul'da Güzel Sanatlar Yüksek Okulunu bitirdikten
sonra Amerika'ya master için gelir. Master yaptığı George Washington
Üniversitesi'nde halen Seramik Profesörü olarak hocalık yapmaktadır.
Seramiklerini yaparken Kızılderili ritüellerinden ve sembollerinden
esinleniyor. Aynı zamanda bir Jazz müzisyeni. Yaklaşık 37 senedir
Amerika`da bulunan Türker Özdoğan, Kızılderililer ve Meluncanlar`ın Türk
dünyası ile kaynaşması konusundaki kişisel çabası ile tanınıyor.
Halen tatil dönemlerinde Bostancı'daki evine gelmektedir. Kitapçı Süleyman
Mehmet sokağında oturmaktadır.
Professor of Ceramics at George Washington University, Türker Özdogan
received his initial ceramics training and Master of Ceramics diploma at
the Applied Fine Arts School, Istanbul, Turkey. He was awarded
apprenticeship at Eczacibasi Ceramic Factory, Turkey and at Fürst Adolf
Werkstatte Für Keramik Buckeburg, Germany. He continued his formal studies
in the United States at the Corcoran School of Art and as a fellowship
recipients, at George Washington University, where he received his M.F.A.
degree. Subsequent to a three year faculty appointment at Federal City
College he joined the faculty at George Washington University,
establishing its Ceramics program. Reflecting his own ambitious and varied
exploration of the ceramics medium, the program provides an exceptionally
broad range of courses, encompassing functional, sculptural, architectural
and industrial ceramics.
As a practicing professional artist Özdogan has achieved national and
international recognition through a variety of research grants and awards,
juried expositions and one-person exhibitions. These have had varied
venues including most notably, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the
International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, Meridian House, and the
United Nations Plaza-Turkevi Gallery. Professor Özdogan's work has been
widely collected and is contained in many public and private collections
in the United States and abroad.
